GENERAL INFORMATION:
Bergamot is believed to be a hybrid of Citrus limetta (sweet lime) and Citrus aurantium (bitter orange). It is named after Bergamo, a town in Lombardi, Italy, where it was first sold after coming from Asia. Bergamot remains almost entirely cultivated in Italy and is known for its citrusy, fruity, warm, spicy floral aroma. While the bergamot fruit itself is not edible, the essential oil produced from the peel is widely used in flavor applications around the world!
